the poetry of fly fishing
Artists and writers and poets have been describing the elusive emotions that accompany immersion in Mother Nature for centuries. But few Artists probably ever thought that they would capture so completely the feelings that come from being on the Water. And far fewer ever considered how profoundly their words would apply for future generations. Though, William Wordsworth DID hope with his Lyrical Ballads that "a class of Poetry would be produced, well adapted to interest mankind permanently." He was most assuredly correct though he probably did not know that he was laying early claim to Fly Fishing.
More recently, many have written, "Fly Fishing is..." However, over time, countless more have expressed Peace is... Happiness is... Contentment is... Tranquility is... Grace is... without ever grasping the common thread that could complete each....
